Happy Birthday Jesus!

Who is He?

Jesus. The savior of the world – your savior, my savior. He humbly came down from Heaven to this earth as a tiny baby, born in a simple animal barn. His mother, Mary, wrapped Him in swaddling clothes, and laid Him in a feeding trough as His first bed. His plan for humanity was strategic, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. In fact, perfect.

His Purpose

Jesus came to this earth fully God, but also fully man specifically to be the redemption for our sins, by dying a horrific death on a cross taking our sins with Him, once and for all, so that we could be reunited with Him and our Father in Heaven for eternity one day. That was His unique, divine purpose and reason for being here on this earth.Jesus lived a balanced, wholistic life.

The Cost to Jesus?

This selfless act cost Jesus everything – His entire physical life He laid down for us. He was tortured, abused physically and mentally, treated like a worthless animal. He was called a liar and was even accused of doing the work of the devil. But He endured all of this earthly agony and suffering just so we could have a place with Him in Heaven one day, instead of spending eternity in Hell.

The Cost to Us?

The only thing it costs you and me is our submission to Him, our repentance of our sins and our acknowledgement that He, in fact, is Who He said He is, King of kings, God over all the earth, and that He died for our sins and deserves all of our faith and love. That we place Him first in our lives over anyone or anything else is all He asks. It truly is an unfair exchange – He gave it all, we have only to believe – His life, for our simple commitment and devotion to Him. He died so that we might live.

How Jesus Spent His Time

Every minute, of every day of Jesus life was spent with intentionality. He never lost sight of why He was here on this earth – to save you and me. He healed every kind of sickness and disease and taught the good news – that He is the savior of the world, here for you and me. He did not gather material possessions, but instead stored up His treasures – us – in Heaven, and He has called us to do the same.

What Birthday Gift Can We Give Him?

The best gift He could ever receive, always, every day from us, is to say “yes” to Him. For our desire to connect with Him. He made us first for a loving relationship with Him – He loves us so much that He gave His life for us. To love Him back and desire companionship with Him is our greatest gift to Him. To believe in Him. To have faith in Him that He is who His Word says He is. And to love Him and then love others just as He loves. Feed the hungry, visit the sick and have compassion on those in prison, clothe the naked – these are sweet, sweet birthday gifts we can give to Jesus.

What is the True Meaning of Christmas?

It’s Jesus birthday of course! Honor Him with the greatest gift – a devoted, forever “yes” to Him! And then tell someone else about His gift to you – His life on the cross, His resurrection from the grave, and His ascension to Heaven – holding a place just for you and for me and for everyone who says “yes” to Him.

Happy Birthday Jesus!
