Healthy Schools, Healthy Children

“Beware that you don’t look down on any of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels are always in the presence of my heavenly Father.” (Matthew 18:10 NLT)

I am not a mom therefore I missed that stage in life where I would have been interacting with the public school system – or even any private schools. Therefore, my awareness of what has been taking place over the past almost 50 years since I was last in school has been at best second-hand knowledge.

When I had my practice in Charleston, I was business partners with the elementary school close by. I did multiple health talks to what was then known as the PTA meetings for multiple schools in the area – elementary, middle and high school. I also tutored a little boy for 3 years at the elementary school. So, I spent a little time in the environment.

There were several things I recall seeing and what still sticks in my mind to this day. One, was that there was an ice cream cooler in the lunchroom – like one you would find in a convenience store. And the children were rewarded with choosing an ice cream bar for good behavior or grades. There were also soda machines in the schools. Neither of these were present in school when I was growing up.

But this awareness was coupled with another experience I had. One morning I was sitting with the principal of a middle school having a meeting in her office. She had to excuse herself from our meeting to “serve up the medications” for a good handful of students who were lined up for their daily medication. The meds were on a silver rolling cart, in little paper cups just like you would see in a hospital. I was shocked to say the least. This too never happened when I was in school. But what was more appalling was my brain was putting two and two together – ice cream and soda machines in school plus daily med carts? Hmmm…

Another thing that still comes to my recollection when I look back on those days, were the lunches the children were bringing from home. In addition to doing one on one tutoring, I facilitated a little book club for some of the students during their lunch break and therefore had first-hand experience at seeing what they were consuming for what was called “lunch.” The common “meals” were Lunchables, made by Kraft Foods. I was shocked to say the least, that that was all these kids were consuming for lunch. And what was worse, is this is what mom or maybe dad, was sending these kids to school with.

Shortly after this awareness, I was in the grocery store one day and I happened to be walking by the cooler section that contained the Lunchables. There were several middle school aged children browsing these toxic food-like substances with stars in their eyes and ohh’s and ahh’s coming out of their little mouths. This was an obvious sign of addiction if I ever saw one. It was like they were shopping for their favorite pair of shoes, or video game. But instead, it was Lunchables.

But our school lunch menus are not any better. See my blog “The Increase of Chronic Disease in Our Children” for my discovery of what children are being fed in the public schools these days. Again, not only was I shocked when I saw this for fact, but it made me so angry. In part because it is my tax dollars being used to literally send these kids to an early grave. But what’s even worse, there are actually people out there fighting to keep this status quo simply because they have an outright hate for President Trump and/or Secretary Kennedy. Their hate is more important than the lives of our next generation. They refuse to see the truth because their hate blocks it out.

Moving forward, at least in some of my blogs, I plan to be intentional with sharing information with you that I am learning firsthand from the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement.

This movement is very much in line with what my heart and passion for truth on health and wellness has been for almost 30 years. There have been millions of others out there like myself, who until now, have been fighting this battle seemingly all alone, like John the Baptist, crying out in the wilderness. But the day has finally come that we now have a very visible platform where we can all link arms and finally have our voices not only heard collectively, but something actually can now be done to right this ship and set it back on course – from chronic disease to true wholistic health.

Here is the first article I want to share with you:

America’s School Lunch Program Is Broken. MAHA Is Committed to Fix It

I am so excited that the millions of us who have been fighting this battle on our own, now have become a collective army rising up together for good and truth. I hope that if you are not already aware or excited about this good news, that through what I will be sharing with you, you will become excited too!

To become involved yourself with this grassroots movement, I invite you to connect up with the MAHA Report – for starters they have a weekly webinar that starts at 4:00 EST that anyone can sit in on. It consists of the latest updated reports of what is going on in the wholistic world of health and wellness, along with calls to action of what we each can do to bring awareness to others.

And as always, feel free and share my blog with others too. And don’t forget, if you have not already picked up a copy of my book “Are You Being Deceived About True Wellness” I would encourage you to do so – it touches on so many of the points that MAHA is all about – as I always say “I think RFK Jr. has read my book – he is singing my song!” I hope it’s your song too!

If you would like me to speak at your next meeting or event to give MAHA updates or other wholistic health presentations…
