Rick and I picked back up where we left off last year after finishing the state of Connecticut at Egremont Road, in Massachusetts. The plan is to hike northbound for three days back to the Berkshire Lodge, our “homebase” this trip, and is just about a quarter mile off the AT. Being the off-season for the Lodge, we were also able to leave Rick’s truck here, as well as our stuff in the rooms for when we get back here three days later on Tuesday for our resupply.
After the first three days, we will freshen up, resupply, grab some dinner in town, and head back out again in the morning for our last two days. Papa Joe will shuttle us once again, only this time north of homebase to Dalton Road where I finished my hike earlier this year, and head southbound this time back to the Lodge one more time to finish not only our hike together, but for me, the state of Massachusetts.
