I knocked off another 105 miles of the AT this trip.
We climbed mountains, hunkered under fir trees on top of a bald that were only slightly taller than us in hopes the lightening didn’t strike too close. Tromped through endless amounts of mud, rock hopped, root slipped, rained on multiple times, strolled along countless “ponds” that were lakes to us, slept in shelters, tented in our tents, watched the sun set over a pond, saw some amazing mountain range views that went on as far as the eye could see – such wilderness! Heard loons crying in the night, bonded with some incredible hikers with like-minded hearts. We forded multiple rivers and had to do road walks around 2 of them because of the dangers of crossing – which added extra miles to our days. We finished the last of the 4,000 footers until Mt. Katahdin the northern terminus of the AT. But not without more mountains to climb.
Book #3 is a MUST read if for no other reason than to simply experience this chapter to its fullest! Enjoy the photo journal!
