Appalachian Trail – Woody Gap to Unicoi, GA – August 1-3, 2014 – 32 miles

Another GREAT 2 day backpacking trip — 32 miles — this makes429 mile total on the AT so far. Still a LOOONG ways to go! But that’s just all the more miles of God’s Beauty ahead of me!

The air was pretty heavy with humidity, as we set out for our first major climb this trip, and the highlights on this section of the Trail in Georgia, is Blood Mountain — the highest peak on the Trail in GA — and then on to Neels Gap.  Neels Gap is one of those novelty points, about 30-40 miles or so up the Trail from Springer, and the first major resupply point for thru-hikers starting at the southern terminus.

My friend Jen, who put me on the Trail last time, decided she wanted to join me on this hike.  I always welcome the company!
