Appalachian Trail – NY 17A to Murray Cabin, NJ – March 31-April 2, 2018 – 28.5 miles

Officially started my 6th season section hiking the Appalachian Trail. The goal was to complete the state of NJ next, which would have been 78.3 miles over 5.5 days.

Unfortunately, we only accomplished 28.5 miles over 2 days. Into the 3rd morning we woke with about 2-3 inches of snow and it was still coming down. The next day was supposed to be an all day rain with up to 2 inches of rainfall and temps only in the mid 30’s. The following day was supposed to be warmer but thunderstorms and very high winds.

With the amount of blown down that was already on the Trail we didn’t need anything falling on us! So we made the unanimous decision to end the hike — for now.
