Book 1, Chapter 10 – The Intense Pain of Blisters! – Dennis Cove Road to Damascus, VA – August 30-September 2, 2013 – 51 miles

Here is an excerpt from my up and coming Appalachian Trail memoir book regarding this hike I did over Labor Day weekend in 2013:

By now I am all in with my commitment to section-hiking the Appalachian Trail – this is my 7th trip out this year, and since I made this commitment to myself.  I have never really looked at this lofty goal as daunting or impossible, because I am simply doing something I absolutely, and thoroughly enjoy – backpacking!  I’m just stringing every new adventure opportunity together with the previous one, that eventually will add up to 2,180 miles someday.  “How do you eat an elephant?”  The Appalachian Trail has just simply taken the question of “where do I hike today” and already given me my answer – “why the next section of the AT of course!”

If you are enjoying the photo albums, here is a link to the first of the three accompanying AT Trilogy books – “Facing Fear Through Faith – Book One: One Step at a Time: An 11-Year Journey on the Appalachian Trail” if you would like to read more about the journey!
