Appalachian Trail – Davenport Gap to Hot Springs, NC – June 5-8, 2009

After taking a thru-hike OFF my bucket list in 2000, Bess & Jim and I stayed in touch and developed what would be the first of many friendships from my AT adventures.  They insisted I needed to give it another try — maybe go out for a long weekend, lighten my pack.  It took us 9 years to coordinate a “one more try.”

Jim planned a 34 mile trip over four days for us going from Davenport Gap, which is just north of the Smoky Mountains in NC to Hot Springs, NC — a Trail town.  Here is my photo journaling from my second backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail.  To read about this trip and the continued learning lessons I had in far more entertaining detail, keep an eye out for my AT Memoir Trilogy — the first of the 3 to be out later this year!
